One of the stories explaining the origins of the rare white bear found only in British Columbia, Canada known as the 'Spirit Bear' is the acient story told by the Tsimshian people. In the story, they recount how a Raven changed every tenth black bear to white in order to remind mankind that the earth was once covered in ice. The Tsimshian people have maintained and practiced their culture, including this legend, through the years. The artwork on this design depicts the Raven changing one out of every ten bears to white.
